This page you will find photos, media, etc. of events at the Tracy Airport including Association events, Airport Open House, Chamber of Commerce mixers and just "plane" fun found at our local airport.

2007- TAA members from Tracy Powered Parachutes participated in two charity drives in 2007. Becky Brown’s hearts for children, and the Christian Academy School golf ball drop. Both were very successful drives and the TAA, Tracy Powered Parachute Group will be asked to participate again in 2008.

We have two celebrities in our powered parachute group, Bob Shea and Jeff Gordon. On May 10th they introduced a powered parachute for show and flying at a fairly large airport (non-towered). South County Airport in San Martin has an annual air show with war birds (WWII fighter planes) and other good size general aircrafts. The airport is located just off 101 South of Morgan Hill. It does have an EAA chapter of ultra lights hangered at the airport, but has not allowed powered parachutes to fly there. Bob and Jeff asked the airport if they could participate in the air show, and was granted permission because their aircraft is N numbered and they are sports pilots. So Bob and Jeff lay the parachute out on the main active runway with war birds warming up behind them, and proceed to take off. They flew around the pattern, landed to a warm welcome, and lots of inquires at their designated parking spot. Way to go Bob and Jeff
"Hearts" shows two power parachutes doing a fly by over the Hearts Annual Fund raiser Dinner. A silent auction was held and a power parachute, 30 minute ride was purchased for charity for $550.00. It was one of the highest amounts auctioned that evening. The charity took in more than $70K last year for sick children needing replacement hearts.

"Tom & Group" shows 5 power parachutes flying low, headed for a target posted on the ground. Each aircraft is loaded with a chute full of golf balls to be dropped over the target. The entire procedure is filmed on video and shown the night of the presentation. The closet ball to the center of the target won $1000.00. Each ball was sold for $5.00 and the total to the Charity was more than $5000.00. It should be noted that Tom Reed's drop chute malfunctioned and Tom not only dumped golf balls on the target but also all over the airport and near by dirt road. A good laugh for the rest of the group who will never let him forget it. Luckily, Tom has a great sense of humor.
